Work Process

Our processes are simple yet comprehensive. At 3A we use processes and leading tools in our industry to speed up and streamline some of the usual time-consuming professional translation tasks. The result is increased quality of document translation and more time for our linguists to focus on the creative and intellectual activities.
Generally, you can expect your project to go through the following stages:

  1. Preparation: Review of materials to determine word count, proper timeline, client input needed, and any other challenges to translation, including target audience, cultural and linguistic needs.
  2. Quote and Timeline: A detailed quote is issued, including cost and schedule, as well as the outline of the process to be taken. Client reviews and approves the quote.
  3. Team/Project Setup: A dedicated team is selected and assigned, based on their background, skill level, and familiarity with the area of translation. The team typically consists of a project manager, translator, and editor. It also may include a desktop publisher. Translation memories, glossaries and style guides may be prepared.
  4. Production: A native translator translates the original material into the designated language. A second linguist works on reviewing the material. The client is contacted if any clarification is needed. Cultural issues are identified and resolved.
  5. Review: Review may be conducted by the client to ensure terminological appropriateness; in-country review may be performed to ensure cultural appropriateness.
  6. Review Verification: The editor reviews the changes requested by client and/or in-country reviewers and valid changes are incorporated.
  7. Desktop Publishing: Formatted version of the final document is prepared. Culturally appropriate graphics and settings are applied.
  8. Review of Typeset Materials and Final Formatting: All final materials are proofread by a linguist to identify any formatting-related errors. Final processing is done, including publishing edits and PDF generation (if applicable) to create the final file.
  9. Final Delivery: The project manager completes the final version and delivers it to the client in the agreed-upon method.
